What is ATEX?

If you work in an environment where there is a risk of explosion due to flammable substances, gases, vapors or dust, it is important to comply with the ATEX guidelines.

The ATEX guidelines:

-Directive 2014/34/EU, also known as ATEX 114
-Directive 1999/92/EC, also known as ATEX 153

are set out in European regulations, and are designed to make workplaces and equipment safe for use in explosive situations.

  • ATEX 153 focuses on protecting employees. This involves identifying high-risk zones and implementing safety protocols.
  • ATEX 114 sets requirements for the equipment and security systems used in these zones, such as specific markings and certifications that ensure that they meet the safety standards for explosive atmospheres.

The benefits of complying with ATEX guidelines

Complying with ATEX regulations offers various benefits for companies operating in hazardous areas:

01

Improved safety

By complying with the ATEX guidelines, explosion risks are minimized, leading to a safer working environment and reducing accidents and injuries.
02

Legal compliance

ATEX guidelines are required by law within the European Union. Compliance prevents legal sanctions and ensures that companies operate within the established laws and regulations.
03

Increased equipment reliability

Equipment that complies with ATEX standards is designed for use in hazardous areas, resulting in higher reliability and reduced risk of failure or failure.
04

Reduction of damage and downtime

Implementing ATEX guidelines promotes the use of explosion-proof equipment and systems, reducing the risk of damage and downtime due to explosions. This can lead to cost-effective solutions and increased efficiency.
