Understanding dust extraction

Marcel Griffioen has been managing director of De Bentoniet Fabriek since 2019. The high-quality bentonite that the factory rolls out, then finds its way to the HDD drilling industry in both the Netherlands and Europe and far beyond as far as Suriname and Taiwan. So the production rate is high. Marcel: “When we started a company in Woerden, we started with one line. There were already two little Kiekens extraction systems in the factory space and that was sufficient. Ten years later, they were still running like a sunshine. But I still remember well that we added the first line and one in Woerden. Massive dust development started. We didn't have to think long about who we were going before.
We explained the situation to Kiekens and immediately received an extensive and clear story. About what they could do and how they would go about it, including substantiated calculations. that was very nice for us, because we don't understand that'.

Delivery and installation as planned

In 2021, we moved to Bodegraven. We told Kiekens again that the set-up was changing and the capacity was going to increase. Based on their advice, we then added the same extractor and installing it was just as pleasant as the first time. They arrived on Tuesday and two days later it worked, just as they had promised. I love that agreements go according to plan.

Dustmasters 10,000 with indirect extraction

Currently, the extraction in De Bentoniet Fabriek consists of two Dustmasters DM 10,000 Dyn with compressed air cleaning, suitable for 24/7 use. The filters — while they are in use — are turned around cleansed. This is possible because the suction speed is calculated in such a way that we can always use one filter blow clean without sacrificing suction power, because downtime costs money. There is a air distribution hose that distributes the exhaust air over the room. Marcel: “That snake seemed to us at first unnecessary, but we kept seeing the paper bags fluttering at the top of the production hall and then went we changed after all. Then you'll notice that they know more about it. '
The system uses indirect extraction. As a result, only the dust that is released is extracted and not the bentonite itself. An additional advantage is that you slowly but surely also get the purifies ambient air from dust. Then there is no longer any fog.

No more waste and happy employees

“Kiekens also contributed ideas about the efficiency of the pipeline system. For example, we had previously under hang a lock and a big bag to absorb flooding. Now the dust falls into a funnel that collects it directly reverts back into the system. Thanks to this closed system, there is no longer any waste.
