Increase in production requires industrial extraction

“We are a dynamic, ambitious organization,” says Lennart Visser, operations manager at Dutch Filtration. “About three years ago, the demand for our filtration systems increased to such an extent that we had to significantly increase our production. Dust is released when processing filtration cloth, and all kinds of fumes are released when assembling plastic. When we started producing on a larger scale, we had to switch to industrial dust extraction. On the one hand, to keep the working environment clean and healthy; on the other hand, to ensure that our machine park would stay in top condition for as long as possible. “With guarantees, please”.

One thing came first: we wanted certainty about how the extraction works,” Lennart continues. “You want to be able to guarantee your employees that the air they breathe is clean. We also have quite a lot of knowledge of machine building and wanted a party that would not purchase the system elsewhere, but could build and install it itself. Someone who knew the matter from oats to barley. That's how we ended up at Kiekens. Right in the preparation phase, they gave us two good advice.

First of all, Kiekens recommended that we install an explosion-proof system because of the dust concentration. They also suggested installing a scalable dust extraction system. That turned out to be a good move, because we have already added several machines to the system.

Efficient and energy efficient

The dust extraction system has been using filter production for a number of months now. Lennart: “After installation, the engineers checked with measuring equipment whether the air velocity per extraction point had the desired performance. They carry out the same check again after each service. That is a comforting idea. But we also notice that it works when we walk through the production area. It smells fresher and there is much less dust in the hall. And the technical service was quick to say that the machines remain cleaner. In our opinion, these are the most important profit points. An additional advantage: we let the - mostly heated - air that we use in the production process be cleaned with the same extraction system. That air is then led back to the production hall to heat the space. In this way, it also saves us energy costs.

'In short: good system, pleasant organization'

We are very satisfied with the system; it is a great product. Furthermore, Kiekens is a highly solution-oriented and customer-oriented organization. Although the installation did not go completely smoothly — that is never the case with such large-scale projects — one call to Kiekens' senior engineer was enough to get things running smoothly again. Kiekens thinks along with you and has a lot of technical knowledge that they are happy to share with you in the form of advice. Both are a real added value. '
